Clearly, the liberals have failed in foreseeing that these vehicles are designed to inflict maximum damage from the average driver. And to happen in the Bay Area... a bastion of progressive thinking! Save us from ourselves, oh mighty overseers! You always know what is best!

Let's ban them by feature:
a) Medium to Large chassis
b) Below average MPG
c) Designed for user comfort
d) Cost is $20,000 and above
e) Appeals to soccer moms, the "rich", and the environmentally insensitive.

And, in this case,

f) Anti-semetic SUV's.
But you had to read into the story to see that the driver (with an Arab name) was making his rounds near a Jewish Center.
